Heavy Combat Vehicle Mechanic

Fort Hood, TX

$37.00 - $40.00 Hourly

Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on Heavy Combat Vehicles
• Execute and install Modification Work Orders (MWOs) on vehicle systems and components
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using technical manuals, flow diagrams, and diagnostic procedures
• Perform repairs on vehicle systems, subsystems, and components
• Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment, and assigned property
• Support maintenance, fielding, and retrofit operations as directed by leadership

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
• Minimum 3+ year of mechanical maintenance experience
• Experience with Heavy Combat Vehicles preferred
• Technical Skills:
• • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic flowcharts
• Certifications/Requirements:
• • Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain a tank driver’s license
  • Ability to pass Abrams Job Proficiency Certification
  • Must meet anthropometric (ASR) requirements for operating military vehicles
• Physical Requirements:
  Lift/carry up to 50 lbs, climb, and work at heights
• • Work in extreme temperatures and outdoor environments
• Work Environment:
  Ability to work independently alongside government personnel
• Travel:
  Willingness to travel for maintenance, fielding, and retrofit operations (CONUS)
